100WW ~ Hot Air #100ww

“Whooosh” The flame continued to shoot up into the open air of the balloon as Kelly looked over the basket. The world below her slowly sank away as the clouds above started to get closer. She was finally at peace up here in the sky. “You ok?” Jim asked as he lowered the flame, just a bit. “Oh, yeah.” Kelly muttered. She was exhausted, it had been another night of running away from the police.
“Where will we go?” Kelly asked Jim, who stared at her speechless. The man who knew it all who had finally run out of answers.

100WW~ New Music #100WW

1

The familiar opening chords started out into the air and Steve felt himself back in time. He was no longer a forty- three old accountant with thinning hair. Instead he was seventeen and sprouting a mullet. The band was jamming out his personal favorite tune as he and his buddies rocked in their nosebleed seats. Nothing mattered outside these concert walls. Life in its current simplicity surrounded Steve, his pals and the music they loved. The song ended, returning Steve.  His sixteen year old son next to him enjoying the music of this new band he had discovered.

100WW~ Watching #100ww

1

Bird watching was always assumed to be dull by Doug Miller. Then one day after retiring from his stroke-inducing job of forty years, Doug decided to try a new hobby. He bought an inexpensive pair of binoculars and a reference book on birds. He headed into the woods and starting observing these animals fly around him. Doug felt all the leftover pressures of being a corporate executive slowly melt away as he watched these aviary beauties in their own environment. He was also totally unaware that he too was being watched. Something enjoyed watching humans as well, simply to relax.

#100WW ~ Time out for Billy

5

It was a glorious day to be an eight year old. The skies were clear and the playground was surprisingly empty. Unfortunately, Billy Carrigan was currently being punished by being an observer and not allowed to play. His recent behavior had pushed his parents to take extreme measures beyond traditional disciplinary methods. The process surprisingly didn’t take long, once they spoke the spell. It was a mere switching of bodies between Billy and his paralyzed Uncle Stan. A glorious day indeed as Stan ran around for the time he had left inhabiting this body, as Billy sat in his wheelchair confined.

“This is what’s wrong with today’s military” Lieutenant Vrill gasped. “NO communication. Then WE get screwed” Vrill was correct in his current observation. His platoon of trained commandos were the best there was. Their orders were to do reconnaissance for the eventual attack.  “Sir?” Private Krill  forced out. “I don’t think they predicted-Vrill shook angrily in place “PREDICTED WHAT, PRIVATE?” Krill nervously answered, “Well,..how could anyone predict that we would land on our backs when we left the ship?” Vrill shook even more yelling back “SHADDUP, PRIVATE!” as the five alien soldiers remained unable to get up in a combat position.

100WW ~Dark Escape #100WW

There was no turning back now. The tunnel entrance loomed over them like a mouth waiting to swallow it’s prey. It took days to get here, having lost some of their clan. Those “things”  had gotten hungry again. No names for them, really.  Garrigan and his family only knew them from their attacks.  Fast, dark shadows that devoured anyone around them. If Garrigan’s family could get through the tunnel, they would find a safe sanctuary. They had to move soon. Those things only came out at night and the sun was setting. But, Garrigan dreaded the darkness of the tunnel.

#100 Word Wednesday – Sparks #100ww

Nighttime at the beach was the only place now that Alyssa felt safe. It was usually empty, free of the world that all wanted her power. A sanctuary in sand, away from ignorance. No one could relate to someone with her abilities. “Need a friend?” Alyssa turned, seeing a woman walking towards her. “No, thank you. Besides, you would never understand” Alyssa said as the woman stopped in front of her. “Are you sure?” the woman asked just as a small twig she was holding spontaneously lit up with sparks. It was then Alyssa knew she was not the only one.

To Steven Lupone, this little table was heaven to him now. He had no more corner office on the fourteenth floor, being asked to vacate it a year ago. Eight months after that, he lost the condo. No steady income meant foreclosure. His days of three hour lunches and European vacations had stopped. He now spent his life looking for anyplace with cheap java and free Wifi to connect with any dim hope of employment. This place was bright, pleasant and a short walk from his mini-van with the sleeping bag inside. A paradise with hot coffee for the discarded man.

#100WW – Paris tears

A silent flame quiets the world

This city of lights now darkened in fresh ash

Tales colored in glass melt to their conclusion

History ends by an unholy spark

Parisians mourn the tumbling of constructed beauty

This day, that makes even the gargoyles weep from hardened eyes

Paranormal investigator Scott Chase was excited about his latest findings. He finally had documented proof of a ghost. Nighttime security guard Frank Kaplan had spotted the spirit during his nightly rounds at ‘Manny’s’ department store. Scott was called in and apparently uncovered a real poltergeist. The pictures he took would soon shock the world.

“Look, get rid of it” Garrick barked. Of course, Jordan had to do what his boss at ‘Mason’s Mannequins’ wanted. “Where can I dump a mannequin mistakenly made out of translucent plastic?” Jordan thought.
Then he remembered a friend at ‘Mannys’ who owed him a favor.
